Close your eyes for a moment... Image you have an interview in 2 days for your dream job. You know the interview will have 5 high level executives on a panel, and there are 25 people interviewing for the position.
Image going into the interview with confidence knowing you’re the right person for the job. Knowing your qualified and capable of giving them everything they need to have confidence in you.
Well I’ll be the one to tell you that confidence mixed with a little humility is the key in getting almost any job you want! But it doesn’t stop there, its not just in your career. Its attractive in relationships or in any social event. It’s a quality that most people don’t have, but people get drawn to. With confidence, you start to become a magnet. A magnet to success.
First things first, confidence manifests itself in two forms. Internal and External.
External is your outward appearance. Its how you carry yourself and what you do with you body language.
Internal confidence is how you feel or react to each situation. Reacting negatively compromises your confidence.
Lets talk about the 6 steps to improving your confidence.
1. Visualize yourself in the situation with confidence
“What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve.” – Napoleon Hill
If you can visualize yourself with confidence, then it’s possible! Its so easy to develop low confidence or develop a poor perception of ourselves. We must stop it! Visualizing yourself with confidence is an important step in gaining confidence. A couple things visualizing does for you is builds courage, its combats negativity, strengthens your purpose and gains energy.
2. Get out of your comfort zone
If an opportunity comes to get out of your comfort zone you have two choices. First, step away from it and do what you’ve always done, or second step into it experience something new and usually challenging. I want you to practice stepping into it.
Getting out of your comfort zone is essential for your personal growth which then turns into confidence. Plus, its never as bad as you think and most the time you end up enjoying the unexpected.
3. Daily personal development
There are a couple things that personal development does for you. As far as confidence, as your progressing in your development the simple fact that your learning and growing you develop a sense of confidence.
Personal development also makes you more self aware, improves direction and focus and improves all aspects of your life. All these tie back into you becoming an amazing individual which translates into confidence.
4. Positive affirmations/self talk
Positive affirmations are used to reprogram your subconscious and help you change the way you think and feel about yourself. They are used to great the reality that you want. I am amazing. I am powerful. I am a leader!
Also, monitoring your self talk is also key to confidence as 90% of self talk is negative self talk. So shifting the narrative within yourself is key to staying confident.
5. Get out of your way
Each and every one of us are built for amazing things. We all have SO much potential, and the number one thing that keeps us from reaching our potential is US. We either can’t find ways to get motivated, we give excuses why we can’t, or we tell ourselves were not good enough. Maybe we tried and lost so we don’t want to try again. All these things keep you from what you want! To be awesome! To be confident!
6. Own the Situation
You need to own the situation. Change your perspective just a little, in the interview example own the room. That interview is YOUR interview, its YOUR time. Its YOUR room. How do you want people to see you? What do you want them to feel? What do you want to say? Because its your time. Own the situation and know that you can create whatever it is that you want to create.
Confidence is believing in yourself, feeling comfortable in your true-self, knowing you have worth. If you are confident, people believe you, confidence is attractive, brings success, helps to connect well with others and you generally feel happier.
I hope this has inspired your to take action today is your journey in becoming the better version of yourself.
